20th October 2021

The International Day of the Air Traffic Controller, is celebrated each year on October 20th. This special day honors all the men and women who work to make air travel the safest possible mode of transport.

The Belize Department of Civil Aviation would like to wish its Air Traffic Control Staff a 'Happy International Air Traffic Controllers Day!'.

Your hard work and dedication is unmistakably shown every single day. We thank you, our controllers, who have remained steadfast in the Department's mission which is 'To Promote efficient and expeditious movement of domestic and international air transportation in Belize through the provision of proper regulatory procedures in accordance with the air navigation regulations in force and the Standards and Recommended Practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization.'

Being an Air Traffic Controller is an enormous responsibility - the safe separation of constantly flowing air traffic requires total concentration and quick decision-making while managing multiple flights at any point in time. You are our eagle eyes in the sky.

The pandemic, has put a strain world aviation systems and their respective human capacity like never before, and Belize is no different. But despite the challenges, these professional men and women we call air traffic controllers have continued working tirelessly, day in and day out to keep our skies safe.

Today is the International Day of Air Traffic Controllers, but we celebrate our ATC every day. We thank you and salute you for keeping our skies safe!
